Fred Kronacher is co-founder and artistic director of Musical Experiences. Mr. Kronacher grew up in New Jersey and began playing the piano at four and a half years of age. He received his BA in piano performance from Ithaca College, where he studied with George Driscoll. He received his Masters in piano at The Manhattan School of Music in New York where he studied with the noted pianist, Robert Goldsand.
Now a resident of Santa Fe, New Mexico, Mr. Kronacher has been a performing pianist for over forty years. Since establishing Musical Experiences back in 1992, he has given numerous “talk and play” concerts, combining his passion for music education with exciting live performance.
He has performed at Carnegie Recital Hall and Cami Hall in New York, Benaroya Hall in Seattle, the Bayarian School of Music in Munich, and on numerous occasions at the Brooklyn Conservatory of Music. He has appeared regularly on both KUOW and KING radio in Seattle, and has been heard as a guest soloist performing music by Chopin, Grieg, and Schumann on NPR’s “A Prairie Home Companion.”
Mr. Kronacher now serves on the piano faculty of the New Mexico School of Music and is active giving opera seminars for Santa Fe Opera. A devoted teacher, he maintains a private teaching studio (fredkronacherpiano.com) in Santa Fe.
Mr. Kronacher has recorded seven CDs, including the most recent All Bach Program. He has written three articles for MSNBC on the pleasures of listening to great music. He has recently published Piano Variations, a book-length collection of personal vignettes taken from his life in music (available at Amazon.com).
